Band of Skulls

Band of Skulls is a trio from Southampton, England (Rusedell Marsden on giuitars and vocals, Emma Richardson on bass and vocals, Matt Hayward on drums). They play a loud, sludgy, bluesy style that wanders in the territory in between electric blues, garage, late-'80s English alternative and contemporray alternative. Their 2009 debut album, "Baby Darling Doll Face Honey," led them to success in channels alternative to radio -- the single "I Know What I Am" was an iTunes Single of the Week, and was included in both the "Friday Night Lights Vol. 2" soundtrack and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. A subsequent non-album track, "Friends," wound up on the soundtrack of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." Several other songs have wound up in various commercials. They've released five albums in all, four of them studio efforts; the latest, "By default," came out in April 2016.

Witt Lowry

Connecticut-born rapper Witt Lowry (Mark Richard Jr.) started his hip-hop career as a joke -- he entered a small talent contest, and his friends put the word out on Facebook, and he killed it -- but soon took it seriously. After graduating from Springfield College, he couldn't find work in his chosen field, graphic design, so he plunged into the music. Several videos on YouTube have garnered him tens of thousands of subscribers and millions of viewers. In addition, he released an EP and has followeed it with three full-length albums; the latest, "Dreaming With Your Eyes Open," was released on iTunes in the fall of 2015.

Stiff Little Fingers

Belfast's Stiff Little Fingers were formed in 1977 and mentioned in the same breaths as The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Jam, Buzzcocks, Undertones, Sham 69 and The Stranglers in the first wave of British punk. Legendary DJ John Peel broke their debut single, "Suspect Device"/"Wasted Life," nationwide, and in 1979, their debut album, "Inflammable Material," was the first indie album to break the UK top 20. They broke up in early 1983, but frontman Jake Burns and bassist Ali McMordie came together for some reunion shows in 1987. Burns continued with SLF after that, this time with Bruce Foxton from The Jam on bass. McMordie returned to the band in 2006; he and Burns are joined by guitarist Ian McCallum and drummer Steve Grantley.

Best known as the original lead guitarist of the hard rock/heavy metal band KISS, Ace Frehley offered up his first solo effort alongside his bandmates in 1978. After leaving KISS in 1982, Frehley formed Frehley's Comet, recording demos and eventually releasing an album in 1987. Two more Frehley's Comet albums came between 1988 and 1989, before he reunited with his KISS bandmates in 1995, touring with them one last time from 2000 to 2002.
